Mandatory Floor Meeting!

Family Meeting tomorrow... Wednesday at 10:00pm in quad 401. Don't miss out, we're going to be talking about end of the year stuff, like housing, Christmas break, and events. Our floor is having a worship night with 3rd floor on Monday. It will be at 10:00pm in our Study Room! I hope you all can come. Let's worship together!

Hey Girls...just wanted to let you all know that I am going to be performing at So You Think You Can Dance this Thursday during the ALL SCHOOL PARTY! Gaby and I will be doing a little interpretative/contemporary/dramatic dance for the entertainment and enjoyment of you all. Come support us! I guarantee entertainment!

Free Burrito Halloween!

Join the floor on Halloween (Friday, Oct 31st) for a free burrito from Chipotle. If you come to Chipotle dressed up as a burrito you get one for free...which means just wrap yourself in foil! I will provide the foil on our floor before we leave. So let's meet at 5:00pm in quad 401 to get all burritoed up and then we can head over to Chipotle to get fat and happy! It usually gets pretty busy...cause who doesn't want a free burrito, so we'll try to get there by 5:30pm if you would like to meet us there and already have foil. Get Excited....yay for Halloween Free Food!

Next week Brennan Manning is coming for a Chapel Series on "The Experience of Jesus as Lord" on Tuesday night at 7:00pm in Newport Mesa. I would love to go and sit as a floor. After Taco Tuesday we will just go straight there and I'll save a row for us to sit in. Let me know if you want to go so I can save the right amount of seats. Brennan Manning is a great speaker and has a lot to say...I hope you can all come, and chapel credit is a plus! Let's use this time to grow spiritually together as a floor!

a word on peace.

The word Jesus would have used for peace is the Hebrew word shalom. Shalom is an important word in the Bible, and is not completely accurate to translate it simply as "peace". For many of us, we understand peace to be the absence of conflict. We talk about peace in the home or in the world or giving peace a chance. But the Hebraic understanding of shalom is far more than just the absence of conflict or strife. Shalom is the presence of the goodness of God. It's the presence of wholeness, completeness. God's desire is for us to live in harmony with him - body, soul, mind, emotions - every inch of our being.

The Debates

If you would like to watch the presidential debates....they are currently saved on the DVR in quad 401. Let's get informed before voting day. And if you haven't registered...get on it, you only have a couple weeks left.

Remember: Register to vote before October 5th so you can vote in the Presidential Election on
November 4th. If you have any questions about how to register just ask me! Educate yourself and know who you're going to vote for. ROCK THE VOTE!

Servin' the City

City Serve was a blast! We went to Mesa Verde Health Care Center, where we had the chance to play games and perform karaoke with the residents. The elderly ladies were so cute, joking around with us and telling us stories. We enjoyed their company...and I'm pretty sure they enjoyed ours. It was a great way to learn from and reach out to the community. Thanks to all of you who showed up!

Parade of Quads

This Wednesday at 7:00pm judges will be traveling to our quads to judge them. So if there is any last minute decorating that you would like to do you only have a couple of days to do it. Put your finishing touches on your quad and let the judging begin!

You are girls are amazing! like 99% of our floor showed up....great turnout! I loved your enthusiasm and your old school outfits...it's going to be a great year!

Peace Painting

Peace Painting this Tuesday (Sept. 9th) @ 9:00pm in quad 401!

I have two large hanging canvases where we will paint our idea of peace. It's a time for you to be creative while contemplating your idea of God's peace and what that means for you. We will hang these canvases in our 2 quads as decoration for Parade of the Quads which is coming up in about a week. Bring any supplies that you want. I will have paint, brushes, the large canvases, and extra paper to paint on. Let's decorate our quads with our own peace paintings!

Fun at $2 Night!

$2 Night was a blast! We went and saw Iron Man and grabbed some golden spoon and in-n-out afterwards. Iron Man was entertaining...Caylin thought it was a war movie for the first 20 min and was about to walk out. She eventually realized it was a superhero/comic movie and was blown away by Robert Downey Jr.'s physique. Rite Aid ice cream didn't sound very enticing so we decided to spend a little more than two dollars for some quality froyo and animal style fries. All to say the night was a blast! Can't wait for the next one!

$2 Night!

This Friday (Sept. 5) is $2 Night! We'll be going to the dollar theater which now is the two dollar theater thanks to inflation....and then we'll go to get rite aid ice cream which is a little under $2! We'll be meeting at 6:30 in quad 401. Invite your friends and we'll head off to our cheap night of fun!

Taco Tuesday!

Join the floor every Tuesday for tasty tacos! We'll be going to different taco joints. from Great Mex to Taco Mesa, to enjoy $1 Tacos every week!!!

City Serve!

Don't forget to sign up for City Serve (you have till Sept. 5)....it's a great opportunity for us to reach out to the community around us!

Here's the schedule:

We find out our project on Sept 1oth
City Serve is Sept 13
on the 13th, the rally begins at 8:30 in the gym, we head out at 9:00 and work till 12:00, then the block party starts at Lion's Park and goes till 2:30

I hope you all can make it....it's a great time for us to spend together!

Ride on the Peace Train!

I'm so excited for this year and to get to know all of you better. I am truly blessed that I get the opportunity to live in community with all of you. Know that I am always here for questions, to talk, or to listen. Throughout this next year I encourage you to find peace with God and each other as we live in these quads together. By learning about God's goodness, wholeness, and completeness, we can begin to learn what true community really is. I want to challenge each and every one of you to experience and understand what peace means to you. So let's take a ride on the Peace Train and see where we end up!
